SOAR 2017 – Round Five – September 8-9-10, 2017 – Reverse Technical

Well this is a first – writing the reminder and schedule for the next round on the first day home from last round.

I would like to apologize for the schedule. In the fall I am given a list of potential dates from the track. With these dates, we work out the best season we can while considering the separation of rounds, avoiding other series traditional dates, potential weather, long weekends, etc. This year we had to choose between two “close” dates. It was either round 4/5 or round 5/6. We chose August and September simply as it’s the best chance for better weather. Now after last rounds single-digit nighttime temperatures, we may have to rethink that for next season!

2017 has been a great season so far, and we have so many close battles across our many different classes. The rider turnout has been amazing and the weather has co-operated……for the most part.  I can’t wait to watch the final two rounds.

Round five will bring a special treat, and potentially a new class for 2018!  We will be hosting a points paying round for “The Legends Race Series”. It is my understanding the series is split into an east and west division. These divisions only visit each other twice a year. This year the eastern cars will be racing the Grand Bend Raceway (oval track) on Saturday. On Sunday they will be adding a round, and doing their only road race of the season with SOAR. If this goes as planned, we may see a few rounds next season. I believe the Legends cars will be a good fit as they do use motorcycle engines (FJ1200).  I know our racers will welcome these new drivers in the normal awesome SOAR manner. It should be great fun for all of us!

Pre-registration closes at 8pm Tuesday September 5th. Please note this is a hard deadline! ANY emails received from 8:01pm onward are not opened. All invoices must be cleared by 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 6th.  Any outstanding invoices beyond that time will be cancelled and entry fees revert to at-track rates.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

SOAR Director

All racers must check in at the gate and sign your waiver.  You must also show your SOAR competition license at the gate to get entry.  Pit crew must pay the applicable gate fees for the weekend. Also, all racers must check-in with the registration staff to sign in and get their sticker for tech inspection. Failure to check in will mean you will not be fully registered and you will be absent on the grid!

ALL RACERS REQUIRE A TRANSPONDER TO RACE!  SOAR has a small amount of rentals available for the weekend.  We do not sell transponders. You must visit to purchase. SOAR uses X2 Transponders.  You will also be responsible for any subscription fees with your transponder. Please ensure your transponder number is on your registration form.  This will ensure you are entered correctly into the database.  We do have staff on-hand to assist with any questions – just make sure you ask us well in advance of racing.

Join our Facebook Group as any last minute info/reminders/announcement will be posted there.

Please note that everyone registered for the Endurance Race must check in at registration and present their 2017 SOAR Competition License to the registration staff.  Absolutely no additional riders are to be added without following this process.  Failure to comply will result in an incomplete registration and a DNS result. In addition, endurance riders are to attend the mandatory riders meeting at 8:15am on Saturday morning.
