November 19, 2009 More news for ya…….. Lindsay Thompson has confirmed our schedule and will be your announcer for all rounds in 2010. Thanks Lindsay and Eva - its great having you back. Also add Saturday April 24th to your calendars as this the new marshals school and open practice day. We will set up the track for reverse in the morning then switch it at lunch time for regular direction. Can't wait! If you are interested in becoming a TMP Marshall, please click here for more info.
November 2009 The SOAR staff has been hard at work to ensure that the 2010 season will be better than ever! Keep March 5, 2010 open on your calendars as this will be the day for our very first SOAR banquet. This will be no ordinary event as we are keeping with the theme of SOAR going about things "a little different". This will not be a stuffy-wearing your best/uncomfortable clothes banquet - we want to have fun SOAR style. This party will coincide with the Daytona 200. Although the venue has not been finalized we looking at big screens & great food where everyone can be themselves, watch & talk racing where we can hand out some hardware recognizing our champs from 2009. We will also be including our Injured Riders Fund Auction. SOAR will be attending both major motorcycle shows in Toronto with a possibility of one in London. Show dates are as follows:
We wouldn't have gotten so far if it wasn't for our racers, so we are giving you some of our booth space to promote yourself. This was determined on a first come, first serve basis. Come out and see some of SOAR's riders and support the fastest growing race series in Ontario. The riders joining us are:
Also part of the display will be TMPCS Marshal Service as well as SOAR 2010 License recruiting. There will also be opportunities for our trackday riders to register for our six round ON-Track events. Mark it on your calendars. See you at the shows! Our Lemans start endurance races were such a big hit, they will return in 2010 to become a four-round series. We are still looking at the possibility of a night race and are looking to the riders to gauge interest. Let us know your thoughts. On that note, if you have an idea we would love to hear it. SOAR is all about the club racer and will morph into whatever form we need to accommodate your ideas. The 2010 schedule is up so make sure you mark your calendars. At the present time all rounds will be at TMP. We are looking into another venue that may be ready for a round in 2010. If this comes into play, it will be a dash for cash event. We will not disrupt our points series by adding a late event. We will post updates as soon as we have new information. There is now a $73,000.00 purse up for grabs in the 2010 season. SOAR will be paying every class at every round. This is over and above manufacturers and tire contingency making it the richest Ontario race series. There will be a minimum grid size to qualify for purse. If riders support SOAR, we support the riders. There is no reason that if riders support us to the point of a profit that we can't give back to the riders. We want full grids in every class and if cash helps sweeten the pot then great. The purse will be 1-3 place and a wild card. The wild card will be a random finish position that will get the same purse as 1st place in the form of race credit to be used on future entry. The 1-3 place finishes are for cash. This gives everyone the opportunity to hopefully make a few bucks. The quads are back! We will have quads at our booth at the show and we hope to grow it into a bigger class for 2010. Novice & Expert will race separately in the 2010 season with the top five Novice riders being promoted to provisional Experts and invited to race the Expert equivalent race at no extra cost for that particular weekend. So, if you place top five in Novice SuperBike, for example, you will get a free race in the the Expert SuperBike. This will truly judge where you stand against our fastest riders. This will apply to the 600 Extreme, Open Sprint and SuperBike classes only. The other classes will run as they did in the 2009 season. Don't forget that Lost Era and Vintage are evolving classes meaning that the eligibility years move forward with each passing year.
Formula Femme will be on the schedule again and we are hoping the Ladies will continue to support their class as they did at the last round in 2009. SOAR is looking to add to the SORE - Injured Riders Fund with an auction at the banquet so we can start 2010 on a strong financial footing. THIS IS YOUR MONEY! We are also looking into juvenile class - possibility of ages 15 and under, restricted to 250 four strokes and below. Let us know what you think. Do we have the interest? SOAR has grown from very little, in one of the worst economies since the great depression, to the talk of the racing community. When the rest of the industry was downsizing, we were expanding. We expect 2010 to be a great stepping stone and a watershed year for SOAR and its riders. If 2009 is any indication, we may have paddock space issues - what a problem to have!
